Meeting was called to order by Chairman Val Dietz. In attendance were Supervisor Mike Holstrom, Clerk Brenda Hildebrand, Treasurer Lori Holmgren, Jeff Stabnow, Marilynn Nelson, Catherine Barner, Arne Gudmestad, and Ron Spangler from Country Financial Insurance.

Pledge allegiance was recited.

Chairman Dietz called the meeting to order.

Minutes were read. Correction to the minutes, charge only for blading not the gravel on the bill for Jim Osland.  Motion to approve minutes with correction made by Dietz, seconded by Holstrom and carried.

Treasurer’s report was given with a checkbook ending balance of $289,627.98.  Motion to approve made by Holstrom, seconded by Dietz and carried.

Motion to approve claims #4114-4127and 1 automatic withdrawal made by Dietz, seconded by Holstrom and carried.

Supervisor Eric Roberts joined the meeting at 7:08pm.

Marilynn Nelson addressed the board about Augustana Loop. They would like to know if it is a cartway. It was vacated by Forest Dahl in 1986. It needs to be surveyed and they need signatures from all the property owners. They will bring the signed papers to the next meeting.

Catherine Barner and Arne Gudmestad asked if they could put in a pollinator garden in the ditch on Oak Ridge Beach Road and West Point Trail. They would apply for grant money to help with the cost. It would be about 7500 square feet or about .17 of an acre. Board made a motion to make a resolution to plant it in section 14 and proceed with funding. They will help with the tilling of the soil in the spring for planting. Motion was made by Holstrom, seconded by Roberts and carried.

Jeff Stabnow gave his final report on the road projects for the summer. He will contact Lot Pros LLC. about the crack sealing still needed on Eldorado Beach Road from the park to the East end of the road.


Ron Spangler from Country Financial Insurance went over our coverage for the township. The board made a motion to increase the following items:

The townhall building to $240,000. The log house, salt shed and the fuel shed were not covered at all, so they were added to the policy. Log house- $25,000, salt shed-$15,000, and the fuel shed-$12,000. The shelter at the park was increased to $23,000, bath house $15,000, and the outside equipment to $20,000 (includes the picnic tables, dock, and playground equipment). The 2001 tractor to $48,000, the Patrol to $50,000, and the plow truck to $85,000, and the contents of the shop and hall to $15,000.  Holstrom made the motion, it was seconded by Roberts and carried.

Brenda Hildebrand gave a report on the park. The dock is out and well is drained the bathhouse has been winterized and they will move the new picnic tables to the cold storage at the hall for the winter. She has had several calls for reservations for next summer. She will be working on the centennial celebration.

Holstrom gave the fire report. Derek Tysahl resigned as chief. There is no acting chief. They are working on the job description for chief and rescue squad captain. There are concerns of losing some of the volunteers due to issues with Battle Lake City Council. The Minnesota Association of Townships attorney will be at the next meeting to discuss the possibility of going to a nonprofit fire corporation.  All township board members must be at the Fire Meeting on March 15, 2018 @ 7:00pm at the fire hall.

With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 8:04 pm.
