Monthly Meetings at the Town Hall are held the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm.

March 14, 2018

Meeting was called to order by Chairman Val Dietz. In attendance were Supervisor Mike Holstrom, Supervisor Eric Roberts, Clerk Brenda Hildebrand, Treasurer Lori Holmgren, Dave Holmgren, Kerry Baumgartner, Jeff Stabnow, Bernie Steeves, and David Stock

Pledge allegiance was recited.

Election Results were canvassed. 64 votes were cast; 34 Kerry Baumgartner, 34 for Brandon Currie, 57 for Brenda Hildebrand, high card was drawn to break the tie. Baumgartner won. Motion was made by Roberts and seconded by Holstrom to accept the results.

Chairman Dietz turned the meeting over to Supervisor Roberts who will be Chairman for the next year.

Oath of Office was recited by Baumgartner and Hildebrand.

Minutes were read.  Correction was made to the ending balance for the checkbook, it should have been $313,825.00. Motion to approve minutes with correction made by Roberts, seconded by Holstrom and carried.

Treasurer’s report was given with a checkbook ending balance of $338,442.08.  Motion to approve made by Roberts, seconded by Holstrom and carried.

Chairman Roberts made a motion to approve claims and checks #4185-4206 and 2 automatic withdrawals; it was seconded by Holstrom and carried.

Jeff Stabnow asked the board to approve a resolution to ask the DNR to not stock muskies in area lakes. Both the County and Ottertail Lake Association have passed a resolution as well. Motion made by Holstrom, seconded by Baumgartner.

David Stock asked the board about Augustana Dr. what was happening with the easements. He also asked for a letter to be sent explaining that the removal of a tree on the township right of way was made by the board, not him. The Clerk will send a letter and the minutes from that meeting to the people involved.

Holstrom gave the fire report. All the supervisors and clerk are asked to be at the next meeting, tomorrow night at 7:00pm to go over the joint powers agreement.

Bernie Steeves let the board know that the band for the Celebration for Amor Park has been chosen. It will be The Motime Band.

Baumgartner motioned and Holstrom seconded the following donations that were recommended at the annual meeting;

Amor-Zion Cemetery- $3,000.00

Oakwood Cemetery- $3,000.00

EOT County History Museum-$ 425.00

I.T.O.W. Museum- $ 425.00

County Historical Society-$850.00

Battle Lake Summer Rec.- $500.00

Perham Library- $ 450.00

Someplace Safe- $ 300.00


Chairman Roberts called for setting the wages and fees for the township as follows;

All wages and fees will stay the same except grader will go to $20.00/hr. and there will be a fee of $40.00 to reserve the shelter at the park. Motion made by Holstrom, seconded by Roberts.

Wages and fees are:

Clerk- $350.00/month, $60.00/ Mtg, and 15.00/hr anything over 4 hrs.

Treasurer- $250.00/month, 60.00/mtg, $15.00/hr anything over 4 hrs.

Election Judges- $10.00/hr.

Snowplow / Mower $17.00/hr.

Grader $20.00/hr.

Mileage (government rate).

Township snowplowing for residents $20.00/ time or $60.00/ hr., Non-resident $60.00/ time or $150.00/hr.

Town hall rental is at boards discretion, Twp residents $15.00+cleanup for meeting room, Non-residents $35.00+cleanup. Whole building- residents $50.00+cleanup, nonresidents $175.00+cleanup.

Amor Park Maintenance- $650.00/month for 6 months.

A $40.00 reservation fee for the shelter at the park. Clerk must receive a check before reservation will be made.

Motion was made by Roberts that all money collected from the fees for the park will go to improvements at the park. It was seconded by Baumgartner and carried.

Holstrom will get gravel quotes for next month’s meeting.

Chloride treatment will happen after all roads have been graveled.

Roberts made a motion to pay the remainder of the bank loan next month. It was seconded by Baumgartner and carried.

Dave Holmgren will check into the price of a new box for the plow truck. He will check with Johnson Excavating about fixing the tank for the floor drain in the shop.

Dead Lake Road issue was discussed.

Cindy Dean contacted Hildebrand about a time capsule at the park. She had a picture of one to show the board.

Roberts made a motion to pay $1200.00 for a playset purchased by Mark Hildebrand for the park. The Hildebrand’s will put it up this spring. Baumgartner seconded and carried.

With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 8:09 pm.
