Amor Township Minutes
For February 10, 2021
Meeting was called to order by Chairman Kerry Baumgartner. In attendance were Supervisor Eric Roberts, Supervisor Mike Holstrom, Clerk Brenda Hildebrand, Treasurer Lori Holmgren, and C. Kelvin.
Pledge allegiance was recited.
Minutes were read. Motion to approve by Roberts, seconded by Baumgartner, and carried.
Treasurer’s report was given with a checkbook ending balance of $943,840.48. Motion to approve made by Roberts, seconded by Holstrom and carried.
Motion to approve claims 4853-4862, payroll, and 3 automatic withdrawals, voided checks 4854-4858 due to printer error, made by Baumgartner, seconded Roberts and carried.
Holstrom gave the results of the survey that was sent out. 96 surveys sent out, 70 returned.
57 no, 3 yes, to it being a through road to all traffic.
48 yes, 16 no, to it being foot and bike traffic only.
44 no, 21 yes, to closing it to all traffic.
5 had no opinion.
Holstrom made a motion to discuss before the zoom meeting on what the board’s liabilities would be. Baumgartner seconded and carried. The board needs to move the path onto the township easement. Right now, about 2/3 of the path is on private property. There needs to be some type of barrier to help keep motorized vehicles from using the path. Signage will also have to be put in. The trail will need to be straightened and some type of surface applied to it for safety and erosion issues.
Holstrom made a motion to start the zoom meeting at 7:10pm. it was seconded by Baumgartner and carried. There were about 15 residents on the meeting. No roll call was taken. Discussion was long and informative. Most people were in favor of the following decision; Holstrom made a motion to open it to bike and foot traffic only, there will be posts put in place to keep it narrow. There will be signs that state it is for bike and foot traffic only- No Motorized Vehicles allowed. Roberts seconded the motion and it carried.
Discussion about under age drivers on ATVs and golf carts, Board advised the residents to call the sheriff and report it. There is little the board can do to stop this. Holstrom thanked everyone for returning the surveys and for attending the zoom meeting. The board will work on a design for the trail and how to proceed. Meeting ended at 7:47pm.
C. Kelvin asked the board about vacating an easement for Walker Lake Road on the property he had purchased. He would like to build a storage shed. Board advised him that he will need to petition the board and then there has to be a hearing before they can vacate the easement. He will get back to the board about this. No action was taken.
Holstrom has gotten the quotes back on a new grader from RDO and Caterpillar.

It has a 9-liter motor, warranty of 84 months or 4,000 hours. Steering wheel only.

It has a joy stick and steering wheel. Same as the one before on everything else.

All are 6-wheel drive.
Trade in old grader $21,000.00. Our grader needs to be recertified by Caterpillar.
CAT 140 with joystick $320,530.00 before trade in.
CAT 140 with steering wheel $315,950.00 before trade in.

Discussion on a packer and low post wing option. Roberts made a motion to accept the quote for the JD672 GP and add the low post wing option. It was seconded by Baumgartner and carried. Mike and Kerry will meet with the salesman to go over all the options for the grader. Information for next month’s meeting.
Holstrom will check on the price of a pull behind packer for the grader.
Baumgartner made a motion to set the Board of Equalization for April 9, 2021 from 9:30am-10:30am. at the town hall. Seconded by Holstrom and carried.
With no other business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 8:53 pm.
