For February 14, 2018

 

Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Eric Roberts. In attendance were Supervisor Mike Holstrom, Clerk Brenda Hildebrand, Treasurer Lori Holmgren, Crysta Hanson and Dave Holmgren.

Pledge allegiance was recited. .

Minutes were read. Motion to approve Holstrom and seconded by Roberts and carried.

Treasurer’s report was given with a checkbook ending balance of $294,782.04.  Motion to approve made by Holstrom, seconded by Roberts and carried.

Motion to approve claims #4167 – #4184 and 2 automatic withdrawals made by Holstrom, seconded by Roberts and carried.

Crysta Hanson asked the board to approve chloride treatment to the roads again this year. She asked why the Twin Lake property owners weren’t billed last year for treatment. Treasurer was unaware that they had gotten treatment because they were not on the list she received. She will send out bills this month. If they are unpaid then they will not get the treatment again until bill is paid Hanson will contact the same people and give a list to the treasurer of who wants the treatment and how much they owe. It will be the same as last year, property owners will pay ½ of the cost. No motion was made.

Holstrom gave the fire report. Negotiations are still ongoing with the City of Battle Lake. The joint powers agreement meeting is next month on March 15th. All township officers but the treasurer will need to attend.

The township elections will be next month on the 13th there are two candidates that filed for supervisor; Kerry Baumgartner and Brandon Currie. The elections judges will be Jim Olson as head judge. Larry Stewart and Pasibeth Seeman are the other judges. Clerk cannot be a judge because she is up for office. Holstrom made a motion to accept the judge list, seconded by Roberts and carried. Polls are open form 4-8pm.

Roberts discuss the Bus to the Capital on Feb. 20, 2018. It is to campaign for townships and local government issues.

The date for Clean-Up Days was decided. The board chose to set it on the second Saturday of June each year. The board felt it will be easier for people to remember and have a better turn out. This year Clean-Up Days will be on June 9 from 9 am to 1 pm. All board members will help with clean up.

Dave Holmgren gave the road report. Gravel will be needed on the roads. The plow cutting edges are wearing faster with the new asphalt.

With no further business to discuss, meeting was adjourned a 7:49 pm.
