Pledge allegiance was recited.

Chairman Dietz called the meeting to order.

Minutes were read. Correction to the minutes. In the Fire report, the employees and volunteers of the Fire Association and Rescue Squad are employees of the city of Battle Lake currently; under the new proposed agreement they will become employees of the Fire Association and Rescue Squad and not the City of Battle Lake. Motion to approve minutes with corrections made by Roberts and seconded by Holstrom and carried.

Treasurer’s report was given with a checkbook ending balance of $339,346.52.  Motion to approve made by Holstrom, seconded by Roberts and carried.

Motion to approve claims #4139 – #4153 and 3 automatic withdrawals made by Dietz, seconded by Holstrom and carried.

Discussion on the 100-year Celebration of Amor Park. Proposed things are Shriners will apply for a permit to serve beer, Lake Property Association will check into music, Underwood Lions will serve pork chops and rent people movers, Brenda Hildebrand will be in charge of organizing and keeping board informed on what is planned. Board will approve all activities for the celebration. Motion was made to have it on August 11, 2018 from 11am-6pm.

Fred Streege addressed the board about a petition to have the township accept Augustana Loop as a public road/Twp.cart way. It was vacated in the 1930’s by the Township. It was recorded in the 1980’s. It has been used all this time by all the property owners and public. It must be petitioned to be a public road/cart way because it is not a public road and this will provide them access to their property. The board will contact Minnesota Association of Townships attorney before acting on the petition. Streege asked that if it is approved by the MAT attorney, to have a motion for the clerk and the chairman to sign the petition before the next meeting to speed up the process. Motion to do this was made by Roberts and seconded Dietz and carried. It was also asked that it be put in the minutes that not everyone liked the idea, but they were agreeing to go along with the majority. It was also made known that they do not want it to be made to twp road specifics.

David Stock asked the board to have the minutes from February 10, 2016 amended. After going over the minutes, the board found no issue with the minutes so no action was taken.

Motion was made to order 100 yds of salt and sand from the county made by Holstrom, seconded by Roberts and carried.

Holmgren gave the road report. He asked the board if he could check into renting a grinder for trimming the ditches, He checked with Ziegler and it is $4,000 for 1 week or 40 hours plus Dave’s hourly wage. Board asked him to check with Carr’s Tree Service to see what they would charge to do the trimming. Motion was made to approve Ziegler quote if Carr’s was higher (so Dave could start this month) by Holstrom, seconded by Roberts and carried.

Holstrom made a motion to have the Board of Audit on 2/14/2018. It was seconded by Roberts and carried.

Clerk advertised for filings for the supervisor position and the clerk. Dietz will not be running for re-election.

With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 8:25pm.

Respectfully submitted by,

Brenda Hildebrand, Twp. Clerk
