Amor Township Minutes For

August 12, 2020

Meeting was called to order by Chairman Kerry Baumgartner. Others in attendance were Supervisor Mike Holstrom, Supervisor Eric Roberts, Clerk Brenda Hildebrand, Treasurer Lori Holmgren, Dan Johgeward, Steve Marquart, Gus Mohs, Marlys Baumann, Joel Shobe, and Dave Schissel.

Pledge allegiance was recited.

Minutes were read and a motion was made by Roberts to accept, seconded by Holstrom and carried.

Treasurer’s report was given with a checkbook ending balance of $842,875.04. Roberts made a motion to accept, seconded by Holstrom and carried.

Holstrom made a motion to approve and pay claims #4738-4761, and 5 automatic withdrawals. It was seconded by Baumgartner and carried.

Dan Johgeward, Steve Marquart, and Gus Mohs asked the board if they could get some gravel and maintenance on Garden Loop. Holstrom will check with MAT to see the classification of the access road. If it is not a twp road, the board is unable to help with maintenance or gravel expense. Holstrom will get back to them.

Joel Shobe came to ask about the right of way on West Point Trail and Eldorado Beach road at the very east end. He owners the property.  The Twp. has 66 ft of right of way in the woods. It is not maintained or should be used as an access point to the other road. People are using it as an ATV path and walking/biking path. It could be a liability for the township and or the property owner. The board will split the cost with the property owner if it needs to be surveyed. Dave Schissel voiced his concern about it being closed and barricaded. He would like to see a path for people to use to access the neighbors on Eldorado Beach Road. Holstrom will also contact MAT for more information about it. A survey may need to be done.  Roberts made a motion to give Holstrom the powers to act on this issue. Baumgartner seconded and it carried.

Holstrom made a motion to go with the default for Cares Act 2020. It will allow the county to give a percent of the money given for election costs due to Covid 19 to each township based on voter numbers.  It was seconded by Roberts and carried.

Lori Holmgren voiced her concerns for the blading of their road and that the chloride treatment they paid for was now bladed off and in the ditch. The board will assess it after it rains and see if it can pull some back onto the road bed.

Holstrom made a motion to accept Andy Pettow quote for backroom remodel for $19,655.00. It was seconded by Roberts and carried.

John Christensen called the clerk with an update on the culvert project on Amor Twp. Drive. They hope to have it done by the end of the month.

Holstrom gave the Fire Report. Everything is going well.

Hildebrand gave the Park Report. It has been slow for reservations. Everything is good. Still waiting on a hand station for men’s bathroom. It is out of stock.

With no further Business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 8:17pm.
