Amor Township Minutes for
April 13, 2022
Meeting was called to order by Chairman Mike Holstrom. Others in attendance were Supervisor Kerry Baumgartner, Supervisor Rick Pulford, Clerk Brenda Hildebrand, Treasurer Lori Holmgren, Jim Olson, Dave Holmgren, ben Hovde, and Jake Holmgren.
Pledge allegiance was recited.
Minutes were read and a motion was made by to accept Baumgartner, seconded by Pulford and carried.
Treasurer’s report was given with a checkbook ending balance of $660,620.92. Holstrom made a motion to accept seconded by Baumgartner and carried.
Pulford made a motion to approve and pay claims #5166-5184 w/ payroll and 7 automatic withdrawals. It was seconded by Baumgartner and carried.
Board needed to approve another liquor license for The Corner Store on Ottertail Lake. The new license is for June of 2022 - June 2023. Baumgartner motioned to approve and Pulford seconded, it carried.
Jim Olson had some questions for the board on crack sealing and a plan for when to do this and costs of doing it. The board is looking into a road improvement plan and what should be done.
There was a discussion on the property evaluations from the board of Equalization.
Holstrom got a quote from BCI on gravel. It was $21-$26/yard delivered. The board will go with quote from Earl Strande from last month’s meeting.
Holstrom gave the fire report. They have hired 5 new members.
Board went over the 3 bids for the new furnace and AC unit for the hall. Bids are on file with the clerk. After some discussion on what design would be best. Holstrom made a motion to go with All Seasons quote for $8,000.00 seconded by Baumgartner and carried. The other bids were from Aire Service for $7809.16 and Buck Heating $9,160.00.
Pulford contacted Lake region Electric about a generator for the hall for emergency purposes. It will be the middle of summer before they will have a unit.
Board will look into a traffic study for Walker Lake Drive. There has been a speeding issue. Dave Holmgren will place speed limit signs. He will also replace some other signs.
The county is considering a gravel tax for any mining done in the county. They will use the monies for county roads and some for townships.
Dave Holmgren has been hired as the road maintenance person. He will be doing grading, mowing, plowing, blowing, and trimming for all the roads in the township. He is hired for 20 hours per week minimum. Baumgartner made a motion to set his wage at $30.00/hr. seconded by Pulford and carried.
Board approved hiring Jake Holmgren to help with equipment repair at $25.00/hr. Motion by Baumgartner and seconded by Holstrom and carried.
Clerk will call A1 lock service and have them rekey all the locks and assign numbers to all keys.
